About this Course

This is an Accredited Course by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), at MQF/EQF Level 5, with 120 ECTS.

This qualification will provide learners with the holistic approach and educate all learners on the HR function. The learner will finish the course and would have gained formal insight into the role of the HR person. Due to the hands-on approach, the learner will also be able to execute the role of the HR person in a well-educated, proficient and professional manner.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the learner will be able to:

  • Recall HR Practices including the recruitment process, terms of employment, employment law, HR administration, policies and procedures, onboarding, induction, GDPR, health and safety, performance management systems and project management
  • Understand what job evaluation is, and identify its link to employee rewards and benefits, including practices for employee wellness and engagement, job coaching and employer branding strategies
  • Define the training cycle and different training methods that can be used, the need for a training needs analysis
  • Define different perspectives of economic growth and development in terms of the Maltese labour market, collective bargaining, industrial relations
  • Identify different organisational structures, cultures, behaviors, group dynamics
  • Describe research tools that can be used by the HR person

Awarding Body

This qualification is awarded by MISCO Business Academy. This qualification is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. The MFHEA deems this Undergraduate Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management and Development to be at MQF/EQF Level 5 with 120 ECTS in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of one of the following:

  • A qualification in Human resources or similar at minimum level 4 (level 5 also considered)
  • an O level standard of English – Level 4 certificate in Education
  • an O level standard of English – MATSEC certificate
  • an O level standard of English

International applicants are to have an O level standard of English or equivalent. A proficiency test of the same standard would suffice This list is the minimum required qualifications – it does not exclude any qualification of a higher level. MISCO Consulting Ltd will also consider RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning). Any applicant that already has some form of qualifications, at the same level of higher, can apply for the RPL and be exempt from certain units (terms and conditions will apply).

Course Structure

This programme will typically take 24 months to complete. The programme comprises a total of 16 modules. The method of assessment is assignment-based. The course comprises:

Assessment Mode

The programme includes different forms of assessment which allow for and promote students’ critical engagement.

Summative Assessments: Multiple choice test; Presentation; Short answer questions; Case study

Formative Assessments: Course work; Written assignment; Survey; Panel discussion (learners will be provided tutorial support for written assignments and surveys, hence making these formative assessments)

Language of Instruction & Delivery Mode

This programme will be delivered in English in our Campus in Birkirkara.

The course will be delivered through a flexible combination of modern face-to-face lectures, webinars, seminars and discussion forums, tutorials, group work, case studies, guest speakers, organisational visits and independent study.
